A brain abscess is a focal collection of pus within the brain due to a variety of causes such as surgery, infections, and tumors. The most common cause for brain abscesses are due to bacterial infections. The prognosis for a brain abscess has improved over the past 6 decades with the rate of a full recovery increasing.
